Cowlnundrum

I got worried that I was going to run out of yarn before I finished. I have a third skein, but I really don't want to break into it for just a couple rows of knitting. I'd rather take it back.

So I skipped the last three rows of the pattern repeat and started the ribbing. Turns out I have way more than enough yarn.

So, do I rip back and finish it properly? (I put in a lifeline just in case)

Or do I just call it good and end here?

  1. I know what I'd do; I wouldn't rip it out. But I can see where three rows will make the cowl just a bit longer, which is nice. Who do you think will eventually use it? Maybe a thin person with a short neck? If that's the case it's probably OK to leave it as is. But if a tall long-necked person will wear it then maybe stitch-ripping is in order.

  3. Thanks, Joy!

Pam, I'm definitely leaning toward not ripping out. It's got four more rows of rib than called for, now, so it's just as long as it would've been had I done it properly. Maybe I'll just rib another row or two and call it good. I just
need enough yarn for a tubular bind-off.

  4. I'm the type that says "leave well enough alone". It's absolutely stunning the way it is. Love the pattern and color. I've never knit a pattern that intricate before.

  5. Thanks, Janette! It was really pretty easy to knit, and the bulky yarn means it's fast, too.

I've decided to just bind it off - just need to do it early in the day when I have my wits about me.
