Here's a spot you might find interesting, have been meaning to pass it on: Le Sanctuaire ( http://www.le-sanctuaire.com/ ). Its a tiny little restaurant supply place downtown. A fair amount of molecular gastronomy misc. One of the most interesting parts is the sign-in book at the front; they have a pretty impressive clientele. When we were there people from Good Eats were in as well...

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Yes, Ichiban Kan, Jen. Thanks for the tip on Sanctuaire. I'll have to remember it for next time. We started at the Ferry Building, then took the bus to Japantown, which happened to be having its Cherry Festival. Crazy crowded but fun.
