When I picked up the pallet the flagstones were on, I uncovered an ant nursery. It's simply amazing how fast they coped with the disaster. Within minutes they had hustled their sizeable stash of eggs (at least 10 times the number you see here) into the remaining tunnels. It wasn't "every ant for himself," but an instantly coordinated rescue effort. Are you taking notes, FEMA?

Save the children!
