Easter detritus

I get the whole egg thing, and the bunnies. But sticking a circus peanut into a cartoon-chicken-shaped mold and calling it Easter candy is just weird.

I eat it all anyway.

P.S. Did you know that "detritis" is pronounced deh-TRITE-us? I only learned that a couple of years ago. One of those words I knew from reading but never heard said aloud.

  1. that IS weird, and they look weird, too! i can barely tell they are chickies. i'd eat it all as well. haha.

  2. That's hilarious. I'd have eaten it too (I can still kind of taste them and it's got to be twenty years since I last had one). On the subject of readers vocabularies, I have been embarassed so many times over the years I think I've almost gotten used to it. Thanks for the heads up on this one!

  3. They don't really look like chickens. I think they look kind of scary. The manufacturers should stick with peanut shapes. Though I'm not sure why they went with peanuts, either. There's nothing peanutty about these.

Alecto, you're not alone. When I did recording for the blind, we were always having to look stuff up. Here's another good one: menarche.

Always thought it was men-ARSH. But no. It's MEN-are-key and rhymes with anarchy. Go figure.
