I started calling around to get estimates a couple of days ago. No one called me back. About an hour ago I saw a lawn crew pull up in front of the house across the street. Went over talked to the guy and struck a deal. He and his partner came over and had the whole thing done in about 20 minutes. They'll do it once a week for a month, and if they're good, I'll keep them.
Maybe it seems crazy to spend money on such a thing. But mowing it all myself would take all day, and I'd rather spend my time on the vegetables and flower beds. It is less a luxury than a necessity right now, and eventually I'll get the yard into a more sustainable configuration.
I always toy with the idea of getting someone to mow for me but haven't ever gone far enough to find out how much they'd charge.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about there, but here it ranges from about $15 to $35 depending on the size of yard. To me it's very much worth it.
ReplyDeleteIt's the best thing I ever did. I got to the point where I could either mow or I could garden. It took too much time to do both. So I hired a service. They drive by and if it needs it, it needs it; if it doesn't they keep going. It averages out to about once every ten days for two months, then when the southern summer sets in, more like twice a month. $30 for mowing, weedeating and then they blow it all off.
ReplyDeletethe yard maintenance business is a good one but what do they do in the winter....shovel snow I guess?
ReplyDeletedg - I'm with you, I'd much rather garden so somebody else is cutting what's left of my lawn.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a sanity-saver.
ReplyDeleteAn update: He finally showed up today to mow the house across the street, and I paid the final bill. Those neighbors asked me yesterday for the new service's number.
