Made another cake (first one here), and wanted to add some crystallized ginger, but could only find this packet of ginger nibs that were part of a gingersnap "kit" from The Spice House. Well, why not? I used the spice packet, too! The proportions were not far off from the recipe, so I just subbed them in. And the ginger nibs are brilliant. No need to mince bigger pieces. Mom, can you get me some more of those? I'll make you another cake!
Don't you love the Spice House? I had to double check where you live...because the Spice House is here in Chicago...and it is the same one you ordered from. They are great in the store too! You can spend so much time in there and they are great at giving tips on how to use the spices also.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Milwaukee originally, so I shop at the original Spice House there when I can, or get Mom to pick stuff up for me before she comes to visit. I love going there, it smells so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks so good - great idea on using the mix - thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteYum. I adore ginger-flavored yummies.
ReplyDeleteYummy yummy. I have some ginger nibs from Evanston's Spice House and am searching for a ginger muffin recipe. Maybe I can find some pears and make this lovely cake instead. . .
