Goat cheese appetizer and other stuff

This is the Easiest Appetizer Ever. You take a block of soft goat cheese (I use plain Chavrie brand) and spread it out on a pretty plate in a thin layer, then sprinkle pink peppercorns (which are not really pepper, so don't try to substitute other varieties!) and minced parsley over it, and then drizzle a little good olive oil over the top. Serve with a plain, sturdy cracker, such as Carr's Table Water Biscuits, to scoop it up. Very yummy, and so easy to make.

This is a very unfancy photo of it, since I forgot to take a picture until it was half-demolished.
Similarly unlovely photos of marinated flank steak, caesar salad, mushrooms and onions and no-knead bread. There was grilled asparagus, too.

I wasn't really happy with the dinner overall; the steak should have marinated longer, the salad dressing was eh, and the bread wasn't as lofty as it should have been (need new yeast, I think). But we had raspberry frozen yoghurt for dessert and then went out for coffee. And the company was good.

  1. The Easiest Appetizer Ever looks good!! And your bread - I keep thinking it's time to start making bread, but haven't yet.

  2. Have you done the no-knead bread yet? It's so very very easy.

Just make sure your yeast isn't old. (This bread turned out OK, but it needed more like 30 hours to rise.)
