Cut down in the prime of life

It's a sad sight, the lonely trees left unsold that gave their lives for nothing but the mulch pile.

  1. I saw the title of this post and thought it was about Benazir Bhutto. Took me a minute to figure out why there were trees and snow in the photo.

  2. Ah no, this is small-m martyrdom of the momentary "aw, sad" variety rather than the capital-M "Oh, damn" variety

  3. I bought a stone pine with a root ball and a pot at King Soopers! It' so handsome, I called KS the day after Christmas to see if they had any more.... in fact, I called four stores, and they all said those potted pines flew out the store before Christmas. I hope the retailers will want to capitalize on that success story by doing it bigger and better next year. Don't chop down the trees... sell them to plant. What briliance. Gee.

    Happy New Year!

  4. Happy New year to you, too!

I never had a real tree of my own, so I really wanted to do one this year, since I've got the perfect house for it finally. Next year I will probably get a tree thinned from national forest land. I don't have a place to plant a live tree.
