Case in point

Here's the forecast. Nice today. Snowing tomorrow. Nice Friday.

Ah, springtime in the Rockies.

  1. We know what you mean. We're up in Eastern Oregon now and it's down to the 30's. It was snowing yesterday, very nice today and maybe more snow later.

  2. The cold weather is a great excuse to not go out into the yard and clear up and plant bulbs and growy things.

  3. Fun, Diane. A little vacation?

Manisha, I do want to get into the yard, though! But it's just as well, since I'm going to be too busy tomorrow to do that anyway. Thinking of skiing Friday.

  4. I heard that the ski places are shutting down despite the snow pack. Is it because of their insurance / liabilities? It can't be because they don't want the business!

  5. Ugh. I didn't mean shutting down as in closing shop for ever - closing for the season would have been more appropriate. Sorry!

  6. It's because most of them are on leased national forest land. The leases specify that they have to shut down by a certain date so as not to interfere with wildlife migration. Not to mention really hungry bears.

Places like Loveland and A-Basin, which don't have such leases, can stay open as late as they want. They always hope to make it to July 4.

  7. Snow in April?? Please take some snapshots and post them in your blog! It's been really hot here. We are expecting 30/23 today, not Fahrenheit but Celsius!!!!! We could use some snow pictures.

  8. I'll trade you, blue!

We ended up not getting any snow today, just rain. But I'm skiing tomorrow, so I'll get a few pics of the white stuff then.

It rained like crazy here yesterday too, resulted in flooding in some areas.

  10. Almost as wacky as the weather they had in Amsterdam last week (I was there last week). Blink your eyes and POOF! snow then hail then sun then snow then more snow. It was getting exhausting!
