Furry Scurry 2008

Today was the Furry Scurry, a two-mile walk-run to benefit the Denver Dumb Friends League. This was my 10th year to attend. Sophie and I walked part of it, but I didn't want to wear her out, so I also sat on the curb and took some pictures.
When you get right down at nose level you can get some pretty good shots.
You also get a lot of shots that look like this:

You see all kinds of dogs there, from small and scruffy,
To huge and smooth. (Great Danes don't need arrows to tell them where to go. Great Danes go where they want to go.)
Some dogs came equipped with their own entertainment systems. Watch out for your knees!
I believe this is a Borzoi. You don't see many of them around.
There were lots of bulldogs and pugs. Butt bib!
Here's a slideshow of all the photos on Flickr.

  1. Wonderful the perspective..and so many different characters..we have a similar thing here for charity called the Million Paws Walk. Oh and that butt bib cracked me up!! :O)

  2. How fantastic! It's like watching the dog show on Animal Planet except up close and personal (which would be WAY better)!

  3. Your photos are terrific. What sort of camera do you use?

  4. This is not fair. We don't get to go to stuff like this because Mommy and Daddy said that we are uncontrollable when we are out in public. Please tell them that we deserve to go too!

  5. I believe that's my first blog comment from dogs!

It really is fun to see so many happy canines in all their variety and to know lots of money is being raised for a good cause.

Gina, I have a point-and-shoot Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX7 that is about three years old. It's starting to get a little slow and temperamental, so I may be replacing it soon. It has a great Leica lens, though, and talks to any computer using a cable without any special software (one objection I have to the Canons).

  6. Hah! In your fist picture are my friends Heidi and Shreela - with 7,000 people, what a surprise!

  7. Funny, Beeb! It also turns out that two people I met later at lunch were in the background of another photo I took.
