I've been thinking of doing a giveaway as a thank-you to you faithful readers who stop by and leave such nice comments, but I wasn't sure what would be best. I considered a bag of roasted chiles, but shipping them would be tricky. However, with yesterday's arrival of an embarrassment of riches, it struck me that a pound of delicious Community Coffee would be just the thing.
If you'd like to try this great coffee, just leave me a comment (first-time comments welcome, too!) and tell me how you like to prepare your morning cup. Next Thursday I'll take all the comments and throw them into a hat (or a coffee pot?) and pick a winner. The lucky one will have a choice of dark, medium or between roast.
Thanks again for visiting and sharing coffee with me in spirit. Now you can for real!
What a kind gift! You have a ton of coffee. I don't drink it, so don't send it my way!
ReplyDeleteI drink coffee! (maybe not as much as I use up flour but I do drink coffee!)
ReplyDeleteMy morning coffee is usually the bitter sludge in the breakroom at work. Unfortunate, I know.
ReplyDeleteAll summer I drank yesterday's brewed coffee over ice with milk and agave nectar. But now that it's getting cold, time to start brewing and drinking it fresh again. I love the spicy blends you can get this time of year.
ReplyDeletedamn, that is a lot of coffee!
ReplyDeleteI like mine:
1. prepared by my wonderful spouse before I wake up, so I can float downstairs on the aroma
2. in my favorite Wallace & Gromit mug
3. with a big splash (OK, more than a splash, a TORRENT) of half-and-half.
We have our prepared with a vintage copper and brass LaPavoni cappuccino maker that probably seen it's better days. It still makes a yummy cup o'joe though.
ReplyDeleteI drink about 4 cups of black coffee a day! Love the stuff!
ReplyDeleteI've moved from a cup a morning with cream and sugar to a chocolate soy milk smoothie with a tablespoon of instant coffee for flavor and a little boost. The cold drip would be interesting to try though.
ReplyDeleteTwo cups in the morning - one lump of sugar in the first one, no sugar in the send. ANd no more. Until I get to work and walk from my car to the office and of course then I stop and get an iced coffee from the sad, struggling coffee shop. And that's IT. Except at lunchtime when I go to the French bakery joint and have a cookie and an espresso. BUT NO MORE AFTER THAT. Unless I have the late afternoon drowsies, in which case I revisit the sad, struggling coffee shop and get another iced coffee. And then a refill of that for when I go home.
ReplyDeleteBut the two cups is all I'll admit to. Send me the damned prize.
@ dg... that is an awesome post, you have my vote! Wait, we're not voting... darn.
ReplyDeleteGreat gift!! I like a teaspoon of coffee, 2 packets of Splenda and Hazelnut Creamer! ;)
ReplyDeleteI either have a cup (I mean mug) of medium roast coffee, made in the drip pot or French press, w/ half-and-half and Splenda -- or I make myself a latte using the espresso maker my husband gave me a few years ago -- OR, I meet friends at Boulder's Bookend Cafe on Friday mornings, where I order a small, single-shot, skinny latter, which I doctor up w/ Splenda and a sprinkle of nutmeg. But I think that 'dg strong' should win.
ReplyDeleteGOT to have my coffee in the morning! I'm up early and have a long drive to work, so I grab my insulated cup, put about four tbs of non dairy creamer and half a packet of splenda in my cup then filler up!
ReplyDeleteDuring the week, I make coffee at work for our dark-roast coffee club. This year, it's me and my new friend Pattie. We make "8 cups" or whatever the lines on the pot mean, and drink it all, every day. Since changing to Stevia for sweetener, my clothes are looser. No joke! Sugar has calories, it turns out.
ReplyDeleteOn the weekends, I lovingly boil a pot of water in our electric kettle, while grinding up some dark, Sumatran beans, and then adoringly pour the just-off-the-boil water over the ground beans in my beloved French press. Wait 7 minutes, and drink with some milk. Oh, the joy!
Mmmm coffee. I take mine with half and half and LOTS of sugar hehe.
ReplyDeleteI love good coffee, like to grind my beans, steep it in a French Press and drink it straight!
ReplyDeletehmm depends on the mood- sometimes it full strength- sometimes a scoop of vanilla ice cream, other times a load of splenda- usually splenda though in the am..and I use the leftovers in baking
ReplyDeleteMy husband is the coffee drinker, and I know he'd enjoy your darkest, deepest roast. Every morning he grinds his French Roast beans and makes a big pot of coffee that I generally describe to people as "chewy." :-) When we have visitors, they generally cut it with water, or add a LOT of cream and sugar. My guy drinks it black: 1 cup here, a big travel cup for his elementary school classroom, and extra to warm up in the evening. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIn the morning I make a pot of Expresso Roast, then after that a pot of Italian Roast after a cup or two I'm ready to start the day. Great web site Thanks for the wonderful give away
ReplyDeleteI currently use Folgers, flavored coffee. I switch off an on with Cinnamon and French Vanilla, they are both so good. I usually drink 3 or 4 cups in the morning, with sugar and cream.....I love my cream! Thanks for a great contest!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee! I try different brands and flavors. Jamaican blue is the best.
ReplyDeletecream and sugar
ReplyDeleteMy Dad is the prime coffee drinker in my home, but some of the rest of us drink it on special ocaisions. I like mine (nearly) unsweetened with no cream. However, on Christmas Eve, we all like to have it with with lots of cream and sugar, along with orange zest rolls.
ReplyDeleteGreat question! I prepare my coffee in the following way, I have an expresso/cappichino machine. I take ice cold water and fill the basin. I then take my coffee from the freezer and put one tablespoon in the basket. Then I turn the button on. In two minutes I have fresh, steamy expresso.
ReplyDeleteI add one oz of steaming milk (made hot in steamer) topped with a dash of Splenda and Cinnomin. Then I drink it on my deck unless it is raining, then I drink it in my sun room.
The best way to start the day!
Thanks Jas

I LOVE ALL COFFEE!
Current favorite = Trader Joe's Italian Roast made in a French press. Black, of course. But thanks to Kitt, and a little Google research, I'm now familiar with cold press coffee and am eager to try it out. Maybe I'll start tonight even though it's almost midnight. Just need to find some cheesecloth. I'll grind the beans, wrap them in the cheesecloth and make a big "coffeebag." Then I'll steep it in a few cups of cold water -- using a plastic or glass container, not metal. Tomorrow morning, late morning, I'll try it out.
ReplyDeleteMorning coffee is 2 teaspoons(on the heaping side)of coffee in my Coffee Duck which goes into my Senseo machine and I hit the double shot button. A little bit of milk and it's done and delicious!
ReplyDeletejessie1953 @msn.com
I don't drink coffee, but family members do--they like it dark roast and very hot!
ReplyDeleteclynsg at yahoo.com
I grind my coffe and use a coffee maker. I drink it black. thank you
ReplyDeleteCup of hot coffee with one packet of splenda. :) Not exactly "dark as night, sweet as sin" but I think of that line when I prepare my coffee. :D
ReplyDeleteI alternate between a pot of Folgers one day and a couple cups of Senseo the next.
ReplyDeleteI mix instant vanillla cappacino that I buy in bulk with a teaspoon of raw sugar! Really gets me going in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI happened to read this post while waiting for my coffee to brew (French press). I buy my beans at Sahadi's, Italian roast, and grind them myself. Half goes into my red thermos for the office and half (now) into my new Moomin mug, black.
ReplyDeletelittle hood calorie countdown milk and sugar free flavored syrup
ReplyDeleteI like it strong, black with sugar.
ReplyDeleteAs my wife won't drink coffee I usually wait until a day off and I make my way through a pot myself. Especially with it getting chilly in New England nowadays, cruise through a pot in a couple hours while reading. No sugar, no cream.

ReplyDeleteI make my morning coffee with a Mr. Coffee Maker. Folgers with a tsp of powdered creamer. I'm drinking some right now!
ReplyDeleteI wake up thinking about my first sip of coffee. My grandmother served her heated and reheated sludge every time we visited. Due to that I love a strong cup of coffee drowned in sugar free coffeemate.

I use a drip coffee maker, sugar and powdered creamer.
ReplyDeleteI prepare mine very strong! And I like sweet n low in my coffee.
ReplyDeleteThe timer is set so the aroma usually wakes me...it swells like heaven! Strong, beckoning me to start my day... I pour a 32 oz. cup...hot and black; add a dash of powdered creamer and a couple of Sweet-and-Lows, and a squirt of milk. I love to still be able to tast the coffee. It's usually the high point of my day... Ah, coffee, nectar of the gods!
ReplyDeleteA timer on the coffee pot is a must have -- to get up and have to measure and scoop first thing is unthinkable!
ReplyDeleteI drink mine black, alone with my book and buttered toast. Mmmmmm.
Please disregard the spelling errors in the last comment. Should be "...smells like heaven." and, "...still be able to TASTE the coffee." I never said I could spell...besides, I was in a hurry (of sorts).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for having this contest. I really appreciate it.
